WELCOME!
Lisa Frederiksen has explored a wide-range of topics in her writing and speaking over the course of her career, including: civil and women’s rights issues, results-oriented workplace initiatives, women’s history month celebrations, poetry and biography writing workshops, career search and job hunting techniques and voter registration and empowerment
The driving force in her work is her desire to understand aspects of an issue or problem that has either directly affected her life or has had significant ramifications on public policy decisions because of our limited understanding of the overall picture. Once identified, Lisa digs in and researches until she understands the issue or problem and knows that she has the most current information and qualified sources. Then she shares what she’s learned through easy-to-understand books, illuminating articles and dynamic presentations.
Writing and speaking have not always been Lisa's vocation. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California at Davis in 1975 and worked during the subsequent twenty-year period as an Operations Officer for a bank; an Executive Director for a state licensing board and an Executive Vice President for a professional trade association.
In 1996, Lisa left the executive management arena to move to the Bay area. That's when she started her own consulting business, working with companies and nonprofit organizations to manage projects, develop and revise their human resources policies and create marketing, informational copy and website content. She also pursued her long-held dream of non-fiction writing, which resulted in her publishing seven books and numerous articles. In 2000, Lisa began giving presentations on the subjects of her books and articles and is a nationally recognized speaker on women’s history. She has also appeared on radio, television and Internet broadcasts as a guest speaker, as well.
Today, Lisa focuses her writing, speaking and consulting work in the areas of women’s history and alcohol related issues. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Women's History Project and is a member of the Organization of American Historians, League of Women Voters of CA, NAACP and AAUW.
She lives in northern California and looks forward to visits and traveling with her two daughters. She is an avid walker and swimmer and has recently taken up scuba diving!
